Yizhong Wang is a Research Scientist at ByteDance Seed, where he works on post-training language models and general agents. He is also an incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin and part of the UT Austin NLP community. His research focuses on open LLMs, learning algorithms, multi-agent systems, and AI for scientific discovery. He received his PhD from the University of Washington in 2025, advised by Hannaneh Hajishirzi and Noah Smith. During his PhD, he was a long-term student researcher at the Allen Institute for AI (AI2), where he led or co-led projects including Self-Instruct, Tülu, and OLMo. Before UW, he received his master's degree from Peking University and his bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His work has received paper awards at ACL 2024, CCL 2020, and ACL 2017.
